Fireball

Fireball was composed in 2024, for tuba quartet (two euphoniums, two tubas). The work was commissioned by Nyeve Mackenzie.

Duration: c. 4 minutes, 50 seconds.

This piece is fiery and explosive, full of fast-paced, energetic movement which creates a bright, bold and dramatic sound. It was written to highlight the dexterity of the euphonium and tuba, and aims to evoke the image of a huge ball of fire hurtling at unstoppable speeds, unfathomably hot and bright, leaving a brilliant trail of sparks in its wake.

This piece is dedicated to the friends I made at the euphonium classes at university, and the great times we've had together.
