The Acrobat

The Acrobat is a solo for unaccompanied oboe, composed in 2022.

Duration: c. 3 minutes 30 seconds.

 

This piece was written to explore the versatility of the oboe through the exploration of a wide range of techniques. The title comes from the way in which the soloist has to leap and change between contrasting elements in the work.

 

This piece began as a short solo, composed for a workshop at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. It was workshopped on the 7th of September 2022, which led to the further development of the work and the eventual expansion of the piece later in 2022 before its premiere in 2023.
