The Herald

The Herald was composed in 2023.

 

Duration: c. 2 minutes 30 seconds.

It was commissioned by Brigidine College St Ives, to be premiered at a concert showcasing performances from both current students and alumni musicians.

​

The trumpet is often associated with fanfare - announcements of importance, royalty,
and military signals. This piece plays into this association, imitating different styles of
heraldic announcements, whilst also providing opportunity for the performer to demonstrate technical playing and musicality.
